Supporting Community Agencies
Heritage has a history of supporting a variety of local agencies, town services and national causes. We do this to improve our local community and build relationships with our neighbors. Our goal is to contribute to causes which will benefit our residents, neighbors or the community.
Below is a list of agencies and organizations that we have actively supported. There are also links, some of which include pictures illustrating our associations and efforts. The date next to each item shows when we started these activities after opening Heritage in 1995.
McAuliffe Charter School- We host inter-generational programs. Students come from
Framingham, Natick, Ashland, Holliston, Sudbury, Southborough, Hopkinton, and Marlborough.
BLOCKS Preschool - Reading programs with both our Classic and "memory care" residents enrich students' and residents' lives.
Framingham Public Libraries - We've supported the Framingham wide reading programs and have hosted a meeting to support a potential new Christa McAuliffe Branch Library. A speaking event at Heritage included Christa McAulliffe's mother, Grace Corrigan, who lives in Saxonville..
Nobscot Neighbors - The mission: "To promote, preserve and advocate for Nobscot, the village within Framingham and improve life quality". Heritage is located in this historic village and has hosted meetings.
The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail - The trail will go from Lowell, to Concord, Sudbury and Framingham. It crosses Water Street next to Hemenway School. Heritage has hosted meetings.
MetroWest Senior Service Networking Group - Heritage hosts this group periodically. Meetings facilitate relationships which benefit seniors.
Assisted Living Federation of America. The largest national association exclusively dedicated to professionally managed assisted living communities for seniors
LeadingAge, Massachusetts, (formerly called MassAging)
LeadingAge represents the full continuum of not-for-profit providers of health care, housing, and services for older persons in Massachusetts.
Heritage at Framingham has had ongoing collaboration with Philips LifeLine. Philips Lifeline researchers interview volunteers from our residents to develop new products to benefit seniors. The mission of Philips Lifeline is to "Improve the quality of people's lives through timely introduction of meaningful innovations".
We upgraded to a new Philips LifelineEmergency Response System in 2010.
The upgrade allows signals to be picked up farther away from the apartments anywhere inside our entire building and nearby outside areas. The system also informs our care aids and nursing staff of the location of a resident calling for assistance.
